Execute low-code plug-ins from Power Automate

So now, as promised here’s the next part of this mini-series on low-code plug-ins where I’ll show you how we can now call or ‘trigger’ an instant plugin from a Power Automate flow!

Remember, if we’re working with automated low-code plug-ins, they will get fired based on Dataverse table operations whereas with the instant plug-ins we’re able to decide where these get triggered or executed from with us able to call them from apps, flows or the Dataverse API. So pretty much anywhere!

Calling an instant low-code plug-in from a flow

So let’s look at how we trigger an instant low-code plug-in from a flow. I’m going to start by creating an instant flow in Power Automate.

Now add a Dataverse action to the flow which can either be ‘Perform a bound action’ or ‘Perform an unbound action’. If unrelated to a table record, select ‘perform an unbound action’.

Then you’ll be able to select your low-code plug-in from the list of actions. Select it there.

Now any input parameters will appear in the parameters. You can populate these and then test the flow! My plug-in simply adds to integers together. The integers I’m inputting to my plug-in are 2 and 9. Let’s see what it outputs.

And there we go! My low-code plug-in can be called directly inside of a flow, I can pass in two integers, and as you can see inside the body of my response, I get my total back! Simples!
